Frequently Asked Questions

The In Home euthanasia process is designed to be gentle, respectful, and centered on both your pet’s comfort and your wishes. Here is what you can expect:

  • When your veterinarian arrives, they will take time to greet you and your pet, answer any questions you may have, and ensure you feel supported throughout the process. The procedure will take place wherever your pet is most comfortable, often in their favorite spot at home.

  • When you are ready to begin, the veterinarian will gently administer a sedative and pain medication under the skin, to help your pet relax and drift into a deep, peaceful sleep without pain or fear. You are encouraged to stay with your pet, offer comfort, or take all the time you need in this intimate moment.

  • Once your pet is fully relaxed and comfortable, the veterinarian will start the IV and administer the euthanasia medication. This step is quick and completely painless; your pet will pass peacefully, surrounded by those who love them.

  • After the procedure, your veterinarian will confirm your pet has passed gently and give you time and privacy for your goodbyes. Depending on your wishes and aftercare plan, you may choose to spend more time with your pet, and the veterinarian can leave resources to support your grief. If you have selected cremation, the veterinarian will carefully transport your pet to the crematorium, wrapping them respectfully and discussing next steps with you.

Above all, the goal of home euthanasia is to ensure every cherished companion and their family experience this transition with comfort, love, and dignity.

Our pricing varies based on the specific services you select for your pet’s care. You can find detailed pricing information on our pricing page/service list.

Many families find comfort in home burial on their property. Please note that you are responsible for checking your local city ordinances, as burial regulations vary by location.

An In Home pet euthanasia appointment typically lasts about one hour, though the actual timing may vary based on each family’s pace and comfort level. The process is never rushed, and families are encouraged to take all the time they need in this deeply personal moment.

Messages and appointment requests are answered promptly, typically by the morning of the following business day, ensuring families receive timely support when reaching out during difficult moments

Euthanasia appointments must be scheduled in advance, and St Pete Pet Euthanasia does not offer “on-call” or emergency same-day services at this time. The team prioritizes planned appointments to ensure each family and pet receives the attentive, peaceful experience they deserve.
